J. Lynn Thorneburg, JD

Lynn Thorneburg has had a thirty-year career in business and law.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  After ten years in business, he then attended Campbell University School of Law, where he graduated magna cum laude and first in his class, and was Associate Editor of the Campbell Law Review.

During the 1980’s, prior to attending law school, he worked in various positions with Thorlo, Inc. as Vice President of Manufacturing and Chief Operating Officer, and with Raycom Sports and Entertainment as Director of Program Planning for syndicated and cable sports programming.  After completing law school, Thorneburg became a partner at one of the nation’s top law firms, Atlanta-based Alston & Bird, LLP, practicing in the corporate finance and venture capital areas.  In 2002, he returned to Thorlo, Inc. as General Counsel; and in 2003 he became a director and volunteer President of Institute for Preventive Foot Health (IPFH).  Since 2003, Thorneburg has worked with IPFH’s board and Executive Director to fulfill its research and education mission in the new field of preventive foot health.

Thorneburg’s other professional interests include having been a board member of the Children’s Law Center, a non-profit law firm in Charlotte, North Carolina, specializing in children’s rights and advocacy; and his current service on the Advisory Board of the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA).

He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
