Both of my husbands' feet point and invert (at the ankle) involuntarily causing him tremendous discomfort. The tightening has progressed to his left calf. He has not been officially diagnosed as having Type II Diabetes, but his bloodwork is disconcerting to say the least. He has been diagnosed with DDD, but has not suffered any spinal discomfort in several months. Help?

Thank you for contacting us. IPFH does not diagnose or provide treatment recommendations on line. You mention bloodwork and a diagnosis of DDD (presumably you are referring to degenerative disc disease), so we gather that your husband is under the supervision of a primary care or other physician. The first and best course of action is for you to consult his attending physician and pose this question to him/her. If he is not under the care of a physician, we would suggest that you consult whomever did the bloodwork and/or provided the diagnosis of DDD. A physician can either begin testing your husband for possible causes of the condition, and/or refer him to a foot health professional who can provide a diagnosis. Once he has been diagnosed, then an appropriate treatment regimen can begin. We hope you will consult a medical professional at your earliest opportunity and that your husband will soon be on the path to recovery.
