Ask The Experts

I am a white male, 6 foot tall and 218 lbs, 34 years old. I have bilateral foot pain and numbness from the arch to toes on the bottom of my feet. I feel things that are not there and don't feel things that are there sometimes. I am not diabetic and have been cleared from the foot doctor, neurologist, bone doctor, chiropractor, and have been in PT for six months to no avail. A myriad of blood tests that only indicate inflammation. Nothing else was positive on the blood work. What could be wrong with me that nobody can find a cause? I have also had multiple x-rays, an MRI, ultrasounds of my arteries in the full length of my legs, and nerve velocity tests that revealed nothing wrong. There is less circulation to my feet and some discoloration that is very mild. None of the specialists or doctors or tests they have ordered have been able to find a cause or treatment although dry needling at PT gives some relief. Thank you for your time.

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We do not diagnose conditions or offer medical advice on line. The many tests and treatments you have had seem not to have produced any positive results for you. Unfortunately, all we can offer is the recommendation to stay at it and continue to solicit input from medical professionals until you find someone who can help you. One other possibility is, with the advice and guidance of your primary care physician, to seek alternative medicine solutions (for example, therapeutic massage, acupuncture/acupressure, or other non-traditional practices and practitioners). The National Institutes of Health has an agency, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, which has a web site where you can research alternative medicine categories at this link: https://nccih.nih.gov/health

One other area you might consider is a comprehensive review of your diet with a nutritionist, which might turn up possible nutrition-based associations with your condition. Again, this should be under the advice and guidance of your primary care physician. We are sorry we cannot be of more assistance, but we hope that perhaps we have made some suggestions you had not previously considered, and that you can get this condition resolved soon.
