Ask The Experts

I think I have flat feet. It hurts so bad I might see my doctor, but I go so often with other issues. So what should I do?

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We cannot diagnose or recommend treatments on line. Your first inclination – to see your doctor – is correct. Although you may have to see him or her with other issues, you should definitely ask about your feet due to the intense pain that you describe. Pain is not normal, and he or she can help you determine what is causing it, and advise you on what to do about it. You may be referred to a foot health specialist, or your primary care physician may be able to recommend what to do. Either way, consulting a medical professional is definitely your best move at this time. Also, because there are some conditions and postural problems that are linked to flat feet (posterior tibial tendon dysfunction is one of these) for which it is best to have professional medical attention, it is important to get a proper diagnosis and an appropriate course of treatment. We hope you will consult your physician, and will soon be rid of the pain in your feet.
