After having flatfeet surgery can I wear high heel shoes again?

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We do not diagnose conditions or make medical recommendations on-line. Your best course of action would be to consult the physician who did your surgery and ask him or her for an opinion on the advisability of wearing high heeled shoes post-surgery. We do know that high heels can be associated with various conditions and injuries, and we would offer as food for thought this quote from a 2015 study in the Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery entitled "Epidemiology of High-Heel Shoe Injuries in U.S. Women: 2002 to 2012" (you can view an abstract of it it at this link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25977152): “Although high heels might be stylish, from a health standpoint, it could be worthwhile for females and those interested in wearing high heels to understand the risks of wearing high-heeled shoes and the potential harm that precarious activities in high-heeled shoes can cause.” For more information, you might also be interested in reading our article entitled "Why Do Women Wear High Heels?", and our foot condition article about flat feet. Ultimately, we believe your doctor can best advise you on this subject, and we hope you will consult him or her and follow whatever advice you are given.
