My husband is diabetic and I have been treating an ulcer that he has had for 6 months. It just appeared out of nowhere. Now he hit his big toe and a blood blister appeared. He had a stroke 3 years ago and I have a boot that I have on that foot. Thanks.

Thank you for contacting us. IPFH cannot diagnose or make treatment recommendations on line. You don’t mention that your husband is under a doctor’s care for the ulcer; so our first recommendation, if he is not, is for him to see his primary care physician or a foot specialist such as a podiatrist or wound care specialist immediately (some doctors of podiatric medicine specialize in wound care). If he is already under the care of a medical professional, you should have your husband consult with him or her now to help make sure that another ulcer does not develop as a result of the blood blister. It is critical for people with diabetes to be extra cautious with any foot conditions or wounds, and we strongly urge you to get your husband to a medical professional as soon as possible. We hope you will do this and that he will soon be completely healed.
