What should my course of action be? I can't take the foot pain anymore. I know the typical answer is going to be seek medical advice and I have. I'm at the point if they had to cut my foot off I really wouldn't care cause the pain attacks are beyond excruciating. Just imagine someone following you around with a knife and they stab you in your foot but you don't know when you're going to be attacked. Just the anxiety from not knowing when it's going to happen then comes the stabbing pain. I drop to the floor whimpering and crying in severe pain. It lasts maybe 3 minutes and goes away. I had an attack at the doctor's and they said when they took my blood pressure it was extremely high so they knew I was in extreme pain but it was a vascular doctor and I wanted to rule out blood clot in the leg. Also went to a podiatrist, did cortisone injection and I still get the pain. Does anyone know what this is? I can't take it anymore and if they told me I needed my foot removed to make the stabbing pain stop I would do it.

Thank you for contacting us. IPFH does not provide diagnoses or medical advice on line. We are very sorry to hear that you are in such pain. You have been pursuing the right course in seeking medical advice, however, we suggest that you seek a diagnosis for what is causing the pain (you mention a vascular doctor and a podiatrist, but you don’t mention that either of those practitioners established a cause for the pain). Sometimes it is difficult to determine the root cause of such pain, but it is important to do so in order to determine how best to treat it. If you have not already done so, we suggest that you consult a neurologist or a pain specialist, who may be able to help determine the underlying cause of the pain in addition to treating it. Or, if a clear cause cannot be determined, he or she can help you manage the pain. Your primary care physician can refer you to such a practitioner, or if you do not have a primary care physician you can find a specialist by doing an on line search. The web site for the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA) has more information on the specialty of pain management at this link: https://www.asra.com/page/44/the-specialty-of-chronic-pain-management.  We hope you will take these steps, and will soon have your pain under control.
