Ask The Experts

As a result of toe and leg wrapping by a professional physical therapist I developed ballooning blisters on the tips of my toes. I have kept my legs elevated since discovering this two days ago. The swelling has reduced but there are still substantial water blisters. The skin is still intact. What can I do to promote reversal of this condition? Can I send photos to you?

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We cannot diagnose or recommend treatments on line. You may want to start by asking your physical therapist why he or she thinks the blisters may have appeared. Or, if you were referred to and are seeing a physical therapist at a physician’s recommendation, you might consult that physician or a foot health professional about the blisters. If you were not referred by a physician, you might ask the physical therapist to suggest a physician or foot health professional who can consult with you on possible causes and treatment for the blisters. Normally, blisters will resolve on their own; however, if they have not disappeared within a few days to a week, we would strongly suggest that you consult a medical professional at your earliest opportunity. You can learn more about blisters at our foot conditions page. We hope you will soon be healed and comfortable once again.
