IPFH Provides Grant for CME on Diabetic Foot Exams

Consistent with its mission to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the feet through education, research and the identification of methods demonstrated by clinical research to prevent, treat and manage painful conditions and diseases affecting the feet, the Institute for Preventive Foot Health has provided a grant for the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA)'s continuing medical education module on the diabetic foot examination. The module, Best Foot Forward: The Diabetes Foot Exam Case, teaches physician assistants how to conduct a comprehensive foot exam for patients with diabetes; complete appropriate documentation; and differentiate among clinical tests conducted to determine the loss of protective sensation in the feet. It also provides recommendations and resources to help patients mitigate the risk of foot ulcers. The module is part of AAPA's National Diabetes Initiative. The AAPA links to other diabetes practice and patient resources, including IPFH. Click here to access the links.
