Free Foot Health Screenings at Davis Regional Medical Center

Institute for Preventive Foot Health Partners with Davis Regional and Area Podiatrists to Improve Health and Well-being of Statesville Community during National Foot Health Awareness Month

On Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 2-6 pm, Statesville, NC residents will have the opportunity to have their feet, blood sugar, and blood pressure checked for free at Davis Regional Medical Center.

The screenings are part of the Institute for Preventive Foot Health’s (IPFH.org) efforts to raise awareness and educate people about the importance of healthy feet and a healthy body.

“We encourage everyone—but especially those with diabetes and other conditions that put feet at risk—to make an appointment to be screened.  If you have foot pain or a sore that won’t heal, don’t wait,” urged IPFH President J. Lynn Thorneburg.

“If you suspect you might have diabetes or high blood pressure but aren’t sure, now is the time to find out,” said Janie Stikeleather, Marketing Director at Davis Regional Medical Center.

Rachel Rader, DPM, a Statesville podiatrist and member of the IPFH Scientific Advisory Board, whose career has been dedicated to limb salvage and who has been instrumental in promoting the event noted, “I am excited that this event is finally scheduled and includes so many individuals who are passionate about preventive foot health in our community!"

The event will also feature door prizes, free educational material, and one-on-one consultations with area podiatrists.  Those interested in being screened by a podiatrist must call 704-872-6522 (M-F, 8 am – 5 pm) to make an appointment (no walk-ins).
