My 8 month old baby has ingrown toenails with pus. What can I do to avoid surgery?

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We do not diagnose foot conditions or recommend treatments on line. Ingrown toenails in infants are fairlly common, but the presence of pus indicates a possible infection. We would recommend that you consult your pediatrician to make sure the infection does not spread, and to get treatment for your child. You can learn more about ingrown toenail in our foot conditions section, including some steps you can take to treat and prevent ingrown toenails. But right now, it is best that you see your child's pediatrician. We hope you will do that, and that your baby will soon be better.
