Ask The Experts

I felt a pop in my calf while moving an object down a ramp. I think I have a calf muscle strain. Why do I have veins protruding in the affected area?

Thank you for contacting us. IPFH does not diagnose conditions or make recommendations for treatments. It is possible that the bulging veins are associated with the injury you sustained, but in order to get a definitive diagnosis it would be best for you to consult your primary care physician. He or she can help with a diagnosis, and/or refer you to a specialist who can help. You can read more about calf pain here, and muscle strains here. But since the symptoms you describe can be associated with condtions other than a muscle strain, in order to be safe rather than sorry, we would recommend that you consult a medical professional. We hope you will do this, and will very quickly be back to normal.
