The top of my calf has swelled up almost the size of half a baseball and my leg has been achy. I went to the ER and they did ultrasound and said no blood clots but it is aching fairly good. Just trying to see what could be happening.
Thank you for contacting IPFH. We do not diagnose conditions or give medical advice on line. You did the right thing by going to the ER, and the good news is that they found no blockage in your lower legs. However, blood clots are not the only thing that can cause pain in the calf. Other conditions that can cause these symptoms include muscle cramps, plantar fasciitis and sciatica. Another, more serious condition called compartment syndrome can cause pain in the calf muscles. Because we always recommend a cautious, conservative approach, we would recommend that you consult your primary care physician and see if you can get a fix on exactly what is causing the pain. Since blood clots have been eliminated, he or she can help determine what else it might be. Once you know what is causing the pain you can take steps to address it. We hope you will seek further medical attention and that your condition will soon be resolved.
