If I'm able to walk without any real pain on a foot that's not sprained but has a medial or other minor fracture, would I still need a boot cast if I don't do a lot of walking for a few weeks?

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We don't provide diagnostic or medical advice on line. If you have a fracture, you may not always need a boot cast; but only your doctor can determine that. Your best bet would be to ask your orthopaedic doctor or whoever treated you about whether or not you would need a cast or boot. In general it is best to keep weight off the feet when recovering from a fracture, but the length of time and necessity of special accommodations are dependent on the location and severity of the fracture. You can learn more about fractures of the feet at our page on the subject. We hope you will consult a medical professional, and that your condition will soon be resolved.
