Ask The Experts

I have been trying to get a diagnosis on regular monthly foot pain in 3 middle metatarsal joints of my left foot. The pain has lasted 5 years, every month, same time of the month, lasts 7 to 10 days. Mild to severe.

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We do not diagnose conditions or provide medical advice on line. Based on your question, it appears you have consulted a medical professional (or perhaps more than one). If you have not been able to get a reliable diagnosis, you should continue to consult medical professionals until you are able to get some sort of fix on what is causing the pain. A foot health professional can help pinpoint the reason for the pain by asking you questions, doing imaging and examining you. If you see more than one medical professional for opinions, it would be helpful if you could provide them information about other consultations you have had, and help ensure that their offices are sharing information. You have identified a timing pattern for your pain. It would be helpful if you can examine your routine, your activities and anything else that might be occurring at the time when your pain is present. Correlating certain activities or occurrences can help establish possible causes for the pain, and your medical professional can help you do that.

You can also use our foot pain self assessment tool to help discover possible causes of your pain, but please be aware that this is not a diagnostic tool, nor is it a substitute for a consultation with a medical professional.

We hope you will continue to pursue a resolution with a medical professional, and that you will soon be done with the pain you are experiencing.
