Ask The Experts

I had a sudden onset of extreme heel pain. I changed to boots for the snow and was wondering if that may have caused a problem with the bones or tendons.

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We do not diagnose conditions or provide medical advice on line. If you still have the pain, you should consult your primary care physician or a foot health professional. He or she can help determine the cause of the pain and make recommendations for treatment. If you noticed that the pain subsided when you removed the boots, then it is possible that wearing the boots contributed to the heel pain, especially if you wore them for an extended time, and/or they did not fit you properly or provide good support for your feet and arch area. If the pain is severe, and if you are still experiencing it, your best bet for determining the cause and getting treated is a medical professional. We hope that you will consult one, and that the pain you experienced will soon be gone.
