My right heel woke me up, throbbing. When I walk on it it hurts. I can use the front of my foot, & that doesn't hurt. There is no bruise, no swelling. I just finished up 5weeks of radiation last week for breast cancer. My business is standing all day. What can I do?

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We do not diagnose or dispense medical advice on line. Because this is impacting not only your sleep and your mobility, but also your livelihood, we would recommend that you consult your primary care physician or a foot health professional at your earliest opportunity. You need to find out what is causing this pain. Once that has been done, then your medical professional can provide advice on how to treat the condition. You can use our foot pain self-assessment tool to find out some possible causes of your pain, but please understand that this is not a diagnostic tool, nor is it a substitute for a professional medical assessment. One thing that is important when spending long periods of time on your feet is selecting and fitting the proper footwear, including padded socks. This is important whether or not you are experiencing pain. You can learn more by reading our article on the integrated approach to shoe selection and fitting. Meanwhile, we hope you will consult a medical professional at your first opportunity, and that your pain will soon be a thing of the past.
