Ask The Experts

This is third time all my toes have severe pain. Not diabetic!

Thank you for contacting us. IPFH does not provide on-line diagnoses or advice on foot conditions. We would advise you to consult your primary care physician or a foot health specialist. He or she can help you determine what is causing the pain and then advise treatments to address it. Your note that you are not diabetic perhaps indicates that you do not think the pain is due to neuropathy. However, it is possible for neuropathy to be present even in people without diabetes (in addition to diabetes, neuropathy can be caused by conditions such as injury to a nerve, pressure on the spinal nerves especially from a herniated disk, tarsal tunnel syndrome, insufficient blood supply due to peripheral arterial disease, and a number of other conditions). Therefore, it is important for you to visit a medical professional to obtain a diagnosis and treatment recommendations, and we would advise doing so at your earliest convenience since you describe the pain as recurring and severe. We hope you will visit a medical professional, and that you will soon have this pain under control.
