Ask The Experts

Why are my toes/feet red/purple almost all of the time? This happens whether I am cold or hot - it does not matter. This has been happening for several years. I am 55 years old. Thank you.

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We do not diagnose conditions or recommend treatments on line. Discoloration of the feet and toes is not normal, and can be indicative of several possible conditions, some of which can be related to circulation and can be fairly serious. You do not mention any pain or other symptoms associated with the discoloration, but since the condition has been present for more than a year, we would recommend that you consult a doctor or a foot health professional. He or she can help determine the reason(s) for the redness in your feet, and based on that diagnosis, provide recommendations for treatment. We hope you will do this at your earliest convenience and that your condition will soon be resolved.
