Causes of Heel Pain
Heel pain often is the result of repetitive stress on the rear foot that, over time, may damage muscles, ligaments and/or bones in the heel area. Heel pain can also be a sign of a specific foot condition. These may include:
Achilles tendinitis
Bruise in the heel area
Bursitis in the heel area
Fracture of a bone in the rear foot
Haglund’s deformity
Heel spur
Plantar fasciitis
Sever’s Disease (typically occurs between ages 8 and 14)
Strain of a muscle or tendon in the rear foot
