I have a lump that has developed under my left instep of my left foot. Probably an inch long. I also have one about a 1/4 inch long on my right foot. It seems like a callus on the inside of my foot. Not too painful, but it did stop me from working out because of the pain a week ago. I have always had flat feet. I am now wearing Thorlo socks and wearing my tennis shoes most of the time. I have also stopped running and am only doing elliptical workouts. What else do I need to do to make them go away?

Thank you for contacting IPFH. We cannot provide diagnoses or suggest treatments on-line. You are wise to use footwear that helps protect the painful area, however, the first thing we would recommend is that you consult your primary care physician or a foot health specialist to get a diagnosis. Despite the fact that the lumps are not too painful, it is always best to try to get a definitive diagnosis from a medical professional so that you will know exactly what to do to treat the condition. Also, given that you have had to alter your exercise routine to accommodate the condition, we would consider it particularly important to do this. We hope that you will consult a medical professional at your earliest convenience, and that you will soon be on the road to recovery.
