Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome

Tarsal tunnel syndrome is characterized by loss of movement or sensation in the foot from damage to the tibial nerve (lower part of the sciatic nerve in the leg and foot) in the “tarsal tunnel”--the narrow space between the ankle bones where blood vessels, tendons and nerves run from the lower leg into the foot.  The condition is also called “tibial nerve dysfunction.”
